Mark Roemer Discusses the Importance of Celebrating Halloween
Introduction
Halloween is a celebration observed on 31st October on the eve of Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day. It is the time dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints or Hallows, martyrs, and all the faithful departed. Mark Roemer feels it is important to celebrate Halloween just like other traditions because it is in our roots which we are proud of.

The Importance
Let’s see why it is significant to observe Halloween below.

1. It is normal to be weird - On Halloween, it is not only normal but expected to be weird. Which other days in the year allows that luxury? You can play creepy music loud, wear the weirdest outfit, decorate your house with all creepy stuff and for once cobwebs are okay. Doesn’t that sound interesting?

2. The dark side of life - The one day of the year which makes you pause and recognize the dark side of life is Halloween. It is important to acknowledge the grim reality of death, our ancestors and the spirits in general. It makes you face the truth of life and the inevitability of death. Halloween celebrates death because this is its underlying significance. It also makes you realize the dark side within a human soul and that includes all. It is a good thing that people acknowledge the negative part of themselves.

3. Living in a fantasy reality - This is one night when children can go out dressed as their favorite characters and have all the fun they deserve. A break from the monotonous routine and that too not only allowed but encouraged by their parents. It brings out their creative side to dress up and approach all, even strangers. They can live in a fantasy reality for a little while, which is actually great. And who cannot mention the bags of candy they bring home. It is a day of excitement, fun, and laughter for them.

4. A day of activities - Whatever the reason for celebration, Halloween brings with it a day full of activities. Carving Jack-o-lanterns, donning costumes, lighting bonfires, and eating sweet treats brings with it a lot of cheer in the otherwise dreary routine. It is a day of meeting and greeting friends and relatives which provides yet another reason to look forward to celebrating the day.

5. Grownups become kids again - We all have a child-like enthusiasm in us which remains latent for the most part of the year. Halloween gives you an opportunity to explore that child in you and bring it out. Nobody cares if you are dressed in a weird outfit having spooky additions to your costume. Irrespective of your age you can enjoy the day as you wish. A chance to become a carefree kid even if it is momentary builds an immense stress-free environment.

Conclusion
Mark Roemer believes that every occasion, big or small needs a celebration. It is a touch with our traditions that revitalizes our schedule. Days like this bring back happy childhood memories. It is great to narrate to your kids, instances of Halloween of your own childhood. Halloween helps develop a bond with all, your kids, friends, and family alike.
